Just a few questions...
Single Wall, ASA approved bat is our guidelines correct? That means no composites of any kind?
I have shopping, as well as seen a few new bats on a few teams that I believe to be composites. Are all composites double wall?
Sorry I am still not clear on the subject. |

Hey Patch,
The rules on the league site say "Batters may not use a double walled bat." Composite is not synonymous with "double wall" as composite only refers to the material used in the bat. I'm not sure why the league doesn't just use the ASA published list (located here: http://www.asasoftball.com/about/certified_equipment.asp) instead of using somewhat ambiguous terms like "double wall". Notice on that list that there are multi-wall bats listed. The point of the rule should be safety...in which case you would want to limit bats to those rated for 98mph or lower. The material the bat is made of should not matter. Anyway, that's my opinion and I'm not sure why the league decided to write the rule the way they did.
